New Book Out! Take Note!! "From Stephen Bodio's Querencia"

Blowing my own horn here, as we must once in a while lest the publishers abandon us: Eternity of Eagles is officially out, I have had my first signing at the Tattered Cover in Denver (thanks, Jeff Lee!), and it has its first Amazon review, by Tom McIntyre. Pictures and excerpt below...

If you haven't read anything by Stephen Bodio, well,,,, you should find yourself lacking! Looking forward to holding this one in front of a wood fire on a cold evening. Thanks for your words that give pleasure buddy. AP

Tom: "An Eternity of Eagles" is a wonderful collage of natural, human, and literary history, hunting, travel, memoir, photos, art, illustrations, quotation, excerpt, what am I leaving out? Rather than a hodgepodge, this is a work with an intense focus, never losing sight of a creature that has been among the ruling passions of Stephen Bodio's life and which for others ranges in definition from imperial symbol to rogue predator and scavenger, with every shade of perception in between, duly noted by Bodio in elegantly crafted detail."

The NYT's Jonathan Rosen, who wrote The Life of the Skies, one of the best books ever on birding: "There is so much brute wisdom, sophisticated science, blood magic, and flat out terrific prose in Stephen Bodio’s writing that he makes me think of Merlin, educating Arthur by turning him into other animals for a while. An Eternity of Eagles is worthy of its great subject, which is not only eagles but the earthbound mortals who marvel at them."

Missing My Dad

I remember once when Dad and I were down in Honduras. He rented an old 206 and we flew around down the coast almost to the Nicaragua border near the Caratasca Lagoon and Puerto Lempira, "the Moskitia Coast". We knocked around fishing for Tarpon several days and stopped in one afternoon to a small strip at Brus Lagoon. An American had set up a Tarpon camp there on an island out in the Lagoon, "Cannon Island". We hired a dugout and made our way out there, spent the night and fished the next morning at the mouth. Dad hooked a great Tarpon and fought it for over an hour and had him at about 20 feet from the boat and he broke off. I got it all on film, probably the last video I have of my Dad as he was killed in a car accidient the next year in Chiapas Mexico. Can't beat memories especially the good ones!
Miss you buddy

About Me

My photo
I’m a Southern Boy, just 56 last November, I get around here and there, Central America, Africa, Red Bay. I’m a Father, Grandfather, Husband, Artist and general flunky of sorts. Live in a little historic town in an old building I remodeled. Just wanted to hear myself think I guess, talk about the need of simplification, show some art, express an interest or two, brag on my dogs and see where it goes. That’s it!, That’s the deal, Thanks
